Postcolonial Concepts: Going Native
Going native was used as a pejorative term to point to any Europeans wo, while living in the colonies, adopted the customs and habits of the natives. By far the most striking example of someone going native can be found in the character of Kurtz from Joseph Conrad’s “Heart of Darkness.”
