Webinars: New Feature on Postcolonial Space
In the last few years I have offered quite a few Skype lectures, classes, and discussions to Pakistani audiences. I am now planning to start offering FREE Webinars on Postcolonialism, primarily for Pakistani students and scholars, on various aspects of postcolonial studies. The possible general topics may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- What is postcolonial literature?
- What is postcolonial theory concerned with?
- What is the difference between colonialism and postcolonialism?
- Who are the major postcolonial theorists and critics?
- Detailed discussion of one or two major theorists?
- A conceptual discussion of major postcolonial theory themes?
What the Webinars will Cover?
While we can start with a general discussion of the basics of postcolonial theory, I would love to tailor the content of my webinars on postcolonialism to the specific audiences. Of course, the level of discussion would vary if it were a webinar for undergraduates, graduate students, or members of faculty. Depending upon the audience, I plan to either provide a general overview of postcolonial theory, or focus on one major topic or theorists, which may include some of the following topics:
- A Postcolonial Webinar on Edward Said
- A Postcolonial webinar on Homi Bhabha
- A Postcolonial Webinar on Gayatri Spivak
- A Postcolonial Webinar on Current trends in Postcolonial Theory
- A Postcolonial Webinar on Globalization, cosmopolitanism, and Postcolonial Theory
Webinars Set Up and Program
Ideally, I would like to set up the webinars with a local organizer in Pakistan who can sign up the attendees and then arrange for a venue and a reliable internet connection for the Skype Webinar. If that is not possible, then I can plan the webinar purely on Skype, through Skype Group Call option, and have all the attendees log in to the seminar from the comfort of their own home. Either way, the purpose is to share my knowledge and experiences with an audience who may otherwise not get a chance of such a learning exchange. Whichever method we choose, each webinar will be structured as follows:
- Duration: Two Hours
- Lecture: One Hour
- Q and A: One Hour
- No of attendees: Varied according to the venue
