Brief Biography
Originally from Cameroon, Mongo Beti (1932-2001) was from the Beti People of Cameroon and wrote all of his works in French. He was also a strong critic of colonialism and all the colonial legacies left behind in postcolonial Africa. In most of his works, the primary conflict is represented between the native culture and that of the culture introduced by the colonizers.
