Webinar on Critical Pedagogy
I think it is best to think of critical pedagogy as an ongoing project instead of a fixed set of references or prescriptive set of practices–put bluntly, it is not a method. One way of thinking about critical pedagogy in these terms is to think of it as both a way of understanding education as well as a way of highlighting the performative nature of agency as an act of participating in shaping the world in which we live. I have now planned a live webinar on critical pedagogy on Saturday, September 21. We will start the webinar at 9:00 am US Central time, which equals to 7 pm Pakistan Standard time.
In this webinar on critical pedagogy Ihope to start my discussion with a brief discussion of Paulo Freire’s work in The Pedagogy of Oppressed and then move on to discuss , specifically, how Mark Bracher elaborates his views on radical pedagogy. While Bracher’s work might come across as too much top-down pedagogy, heavily reliant on studies of consciousness and the brain, my hope is to offer a mixture of Freire’s seminal thought with Bracher’s deep understanding of learning and identity formation.
To participate, please register for the webinar and then join us on our live webinars page on the day of the webinar. Also, if you have any questions about the webinar or if you would like me to address certain specific issues, please add it to the comments section below. I will try my best to incorporate your suggestions in my discussion. Please also make sure to share this news widely so that more people can join us.
